Fridays – now I might be out on limb here but myself, and a couple of our team love Friday in the office – we’re reliving the “dress down Friday” vibe as I’ve always found it a much more creative day – you know, a random bunch of people in the office, some you might not chat to regularly and you have these amazing conversations about EVERYTHING, and in there is generally something that makes you all go “aha!!” that lightbulb moment. And being in London the tubes are quieter on Fridays, shorter queues at my fave lunch spot……and that Friday feeling!
I’d love to know if you have any other Friday fans…..and if not, don’t tell anyone……really don’t want everyone to catch on to this
That's really interesting, and I understand what you mean. It suggests that the other days of the week have a vibe that stifles creativity (too many people, too much structure?) Employers talk a lot about coming back to the office to encourage collaboration and creativity. However it won't magically happen. The right sort of vibe and bit of curation feel like really important factors?
Like your thinking Giles! I've always wondered what the Friday magic was and I do think you've hit on a few things that are constraints on the other days. It's as if with a more random mix of people the cross collaboration between teams becomes easier, then the conversation needs to be more macro and less and task based so it kinda lends itself to problem solving in a more hypothetical space, which frees people up to through off constraints of "let's get sh*t done" and moves into "what if......"
