Csuite women who’ve played sport (myself included) learn serious business skills from the outset that include strategy, planning (and implementation!) resource allocation, competitor analysis, self-awareness and self-leadership, and in professional or semiprofessional sports, the importance of commercial partners and networks.

Re. C-suite women I'd add to Wendy's comment previously that knowing the power of the team is a big one here (even for those in individual pursuits) - their understanding of the many cogs it takes to work the machine. The more sceptical part of me considers it's because they have a tendency to exhibit more typically male attributes e.g. competitive, focused.
